Dr. Zeichner-Tamayo grew up in New York City. She attended Cornell University for both undergraduate and veterinary school, receiving her Bachelor of Science cum laude in Animal Science from Cornell University, and her Doctor of Veterinary Medicine from the Cornell University College of Veterinary Medicine. After graduation, Dr. Zeichner-Tamayo completed an intensive, year long rotating internship in small animal medicine and surgery at Long Island Veterinary Specialists in Plainview, New York. She remained there for three additional years as a Staff Clinician in Emergency and Critical Care, before going into general practice. She also spent two years performing surgery at North Shore Animal League as a staff surgeon. Dr. Zeichner-Tamayo lives in Laurel Hollow with her husband, Keith, their son, Jackson, their Doberman, Bella, and two cats, Jinx and Walter. Dr. Zeichner-Tamayo greatly enjoys spending time outside of work with her horse, Rioja, and actively competes in dressage.
Dr. Zeichner-Tamayo’s professional interests include soft-tissue surgery, radiology, emergency medicine and critical care, and preventative medicine.
We are thrilled to welcome Jessie Barry as our head of reception! Jessie brings a life-long passion for animals, extensive experience in reception, and a very impressive tech background – she is a woman of all trades! She also spent 2 years in Korea teaching English! Jessie previously worked in shelter medicine for many years, and is still actively involved with multiple rescue agencies. You can always ask her for pictures of the many pets she is fostering! Jessie lives with her husband, Brett, her daughter, Lyra, and her many pets, both foster and permanent!
Shannon has been passionate about animals all of her life, and it certainly shows in her love for her patients! She became a licensed veterinary technician in 2005, and started her impressive career in veterinary medicine thereafter. With many years of experience in general practice, surgery and emergency medicine, Shannon is dedicated to providing the most advanced and compassionate care to her patients. As anyone who has met Shannon can confirm, it is very clear that this is her calling!
